Japanese mint, botanically known as Mentha arvensis, originates from North America and East Asia. This versatile plant is particularly valued for its aromatic properties. The essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of the leaves and stems of this perennial mint. Compared to the well-known peppermint, Japanese mint has a higher menthol content, giving it an even more intense and fresh mint aroma.
